7% of BW are living in insecure housing circumstances – how should be addressed – at community and governmental levels?

Housing insecurity affects 7% of Black women, highlighting an urgent need for action at community and governmental levels. Locally, grassroots initiatives can empower women with financial literacy, tenant rights education, and support networks to navigate housing challenges. Community housing co-ops and workshops on homeownership can provide immediate, practical solutions. On a broader scale, government policies must address systemic barriers by increasing affordable housing, strengthening tenant protections, and enforcing anti-discrimination laws. Programs tailored for Black women, like transitional housing and rental subsidies, are essential. Collaboration between communities and policymakers can pave the way for secure, affordable housing that supports stability and growth.
